AARC
Animal acupuncture and rehabilitation center
Our goal is to make the world a better place for one pet at a time. Doctors and staff work with you to manage your pet’s pain, speed healing, and improve strength, mobility, and health so that you and your pet can enjoy the best Quality of Life together for as long as possible.
At AARC, we offer compassionate care and education combined with over 37 years of veterinary experience, all in a fun, friendly, relaxed, fear-free environment. You are never separated from your pet during examinations or treatment sessions. We also provide a range of high-quality treats and toys to keep your pet happy, engaged, and motivated.
Services
-
When your pet comes in for the first time Dr. Claire Sosna will spend two hours with you and conduct an in-depth history, physical exam, answer any questions you may have, and provide a personalized care plan for your pet.
-
Our heated underwater treadmill provides a safe environment for low-impact resistance walking and swimming, reducing joint stress and enabling slow, incremental strength gains when full-gravity rehab is too hard on your pet’s joints or muscles.
-
Traditional land-based rehab offers advanced, balance-focused, and dynamic movement training to help build coordination and strength in many positions, such as getting up and down, turning, and leaning to eat.
-
Acupuncture can relieve muscle stress and tension, help joints move more freely, reduce inflammation, promote healing, and potentially lower seizure risk. E-stim is part of the acupuncture treatment we provide and uses the same metal needles used during acupuncture to deliver small electrical currents to the muscles, promoting further relaxation and relief. Acupuncture complements many rehab courses.
-
Laser therapy helps stimulate tissue healing, improve blood flow, and can loosen muscle fibers. It is a great addition for animals that are struggling with recovery and healing.
-
Chinese herbal medications are similar to Western medications. They treat symptoms and causes of illness or discomfort. Generally, herbal medications contain multiple synergistic ingredients rather than a single active chemical and are derived directly from plants.
-
Our DigaTherm Infrared Cameras help visualize hard-to-find inflammation and pain. This helps when the pet is exceptionally stoic or the injury isn't severe enough to detect on a traditional physical exam.
Testimonials
Dr. Sosna has cared for our two seniors Schatzi (15) and Sid (16) for other three years now, and the results speak for themselves. At their age, every bit of mobility and comfort matters, and Dr. Sosna’s knowledge, rehab approach, and genuine compassion have made an undeniable difference in keeping them happy, active, and thriving. She is a true difference-maker in senior pet care. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.
— Thalia T. with Schatzi and Sid
AARC is an exceptional animal rehabilitation center. Dr. Sosna is an extremely knowledgeable veterinarian and offers an assortment of rehab modalities. All of her vet techs have always been kind friendly, and truly care for the animals. Cooper has been rehabbed for several injuries, and considering he’s a golden retriever turning 11, he’s in great shape. I contribute his longevity to the exceptional care that he has received at AARC.

AARC and Dr. Sosna have dramatically improved my Tessa’s strength and mobility. They are the reason Tessa’s total hip replacement was so successful. Tessa always loved her underwater treadmill time, and comes out of her acupuncture visits with improved mobility, and decreased pain. Dr. Sosna’s professional expertise is unrivaled!
